With the holidays approaching and the heavenly birthdays of our organization’s namesakes coming up, we can’t help thinking how the ladies who would both be celebrating their sparkling seventies would spend their time.

Ms. Ruby Ann would have helped her grandson, who is also an educator, decorate his classroom and prepare lesson plans for his 7th grade students. She’d also plan another trip up the coast via luxury train travel. Ms. Carrie Ann would also have travel plans to see her daughters for the holidays. Between cooking, chatting with her sisters and serving at her church, she’d also help stuff envelopes for DCBF’s fall fundraising campaign.

As I think about our moms and their dedication to family and community, I also reflect on the fantastic journey of conceiving, standing up, and managing The Darin C. Banks Foundation (DCBF). It has been a sixteen-year labor of love and more gratifying than we could ever hope. DCBF Scholars have matriculated to and graduated from Ivy League, Big Ten, HBCU and other distinguished private colleges and universities. They are emerging leaders working in the business, entertainment, social services, technology and other industries. They volunteer in their hometowns and abroad, enriching their communities as global citizens.

As we transition to RACA, we endeavor to continue DCBF’s great work. It's fall and RACA is on the move! We’ve just kicked off our Annual Scholarship Competition, preparing for Giving Tuesday Fundraiser, and putting the finishing touches on our fall newsletter. We can only imagine all the things Ms. Ruby Ann and Ms. Carrie Ann might say and do on their birthdays. We're grateful to have had them in our lives and to share their legacy through RACA.

We Miss You Mom & Mommy!

Love,

Bryant & Michelle Banks-Myles
